Into the Mystery: an Essay by Joscelyn Godwin Revisiting the deepest moments of 25 years of the Quest
The homespun honest prayers, hymns, poetry and wonder tales of the Celtic lands have nourished many questing pilgrims and is a body of indigenous wisdom from the Atlantic fringe of Europe. Some scholars, joined by the voices of conservative religion, have tried to write this off as “superstition” powered by “new-age” rocket boosters. Others rejoice in timeless passion for the cosmic Christ, and in the glory glimpsed in nature and in human nature. Then there are the saints: archetypal figures, such as Bridgit and Columba, whose spirit helps unlock life’s flow into our world. Our time will be half talk and half discussion as Alastair takes us on a virtual quest, looking at all points of view, and pointing to the transcendent.
This presentation includes 15 minutes each of Q&A and an optional breakout session, from 4:00-4:30pm EDT.
